NEWS FROM COUNCIL

A council meeting was held on Tuesday, August 11 after a month hiatus.

It was motioned to have a new audio system purchased and installed. This includes a new soundboard, new amp and new speakers. This will improve the sound in the sanctuary and in other areas of the church dramatically.

We have a “wish list” that we are compiling with some larger projects for the future and the sound system was on it. We are hoping to slowly cross items off the list.

Some trees that were struggling in the northeast section of the parking lot were taken down, the grass that was seeded this spring has come in beautifully and an area on the lawn is being fitted for concrete for the bell on top of the building to be placed. We will continue to keep the flowerbeds and lawn in good shape for the anniversary.

Finally, the Kinderssori Preschool Program has outgrown their space and their lease will be up at the end of September. We wish them the best in their future endeavors.

90th ANNIVERSARY

The planning is all coming together to celebrate the 90th anniversary of our church. There is a sign-up sheet to volunteer if you’d like to help. Darlene and Bill will usher (thank you), we need two more greeters (thank you Shirley and Reta), a few to set-up and clean-up (thank you Darryl, Jim and Ken) and a few for the luncheon part of it (thank you Gary, Colleen, Diane, Dorothy and Cathie).

There are extra invitations on the table in the Narthex. Please help yourself to one or more and feel free to hand them out to past members you may run into. Let the office know, either by phone or email, if you are able to attend. There is also another sign-up sheet to give us a heads-up on attendees so we will have enough food.

We are looking for a photographer in the congregation who has a digital camera so we can download pictures after the celebration and put them in a photo album.

Feel free to reach out to Dorothy Gummer at 780-986-6012 with any questions or ideas.

NEWS FROM THE OFFICE

The mailboxes have been moved into a more alphabetical order. If you don’t have a mailbox and would like one, please let me know.

We will be ordering offering envelopes this month. If you would prefer not to get any envelopes, please let me know as soon as possible. Also, if you don’t have envelopes but would like some, again, please let the office know. We have a few boxes of envelopes that haven’t been picked up. It would save money for the church if we don’t need to order any for you if you don’t require any. There are other options if you’d prefer to donate through direct deposit or etransfers. We will gladly help set that up.

Please let the office know of any changes to your address, phone numbers or email addresses so we can update our records.
