NEWS FROM COUNCIL

Thank you to everyone who came to help with the Spring Clean-up. We had a great turn out to help with yard work and organizing and cleaning inside. The parking lot lines were painted for only $60! Thank you to Barry and Kevin for working on that job.

There is a table in the Narthex with a number of books you are welcome to. These were taken out of the library in order to organize that area. We will donate the remaining books in a week or two.

We were short quite a few All Creation Sings hymnals so we ordered 40 more and they have been distributed throughout the sanctuary.

Pastor Matt will be working at Mulhurst Camp starting at the end of June. He will be splitting his time between the church and camp as he did last year.

We would like to give a shout out to our maintenance team for the work they’ve been putting in lately. Between painting lines, working on a plugged sink and repairing a constant leak in a classroom, these guys have been hard at work and we appreciate you!

90th ANNIVERSARY

Our committee had a very successful meeting. We will have a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board looking for volunteers for food service, greeters, ushers, set up and clean up. There are many ways to help and we appreciate anyone who is willing to join us.

We are looking for a photographer in the congregation who has a digital camera so we can download pictures after the celebration.

We have a number of photos from the past 90 years but are always looking for more. If you come across old photos or old confirmation photos, please submit them and we can scan them and get them back to you.

Feel free to reach out to Dorothy Gummer at 780-986-6012 with any questions or ideas.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU

Dorothy and Reta are still busy doing interviews. You can speak to either of these ladies to set up a time if you are interested in having a bit of your church history added to the booklet. They have tried to reach out to as many of you as they can, but if they haven’t spoken to you yet, give them a call. The deadline for interviews will be July 15th.

A booklet will be available for the 90th anniversary in September. Stay tuned for more information.

LETTER FROM THE BISHOP

June 2026

Pentecost is here!

… a perfect opportunity to remember that the church was born not in certainty, but in courage! Not in comfort, but in community! The Spirit descended among ordinary people and sent them into a complicated world carrying extraordinary hope. Flames danced overhead, languages tumbled into understanding, and fear gave way to boldness. The church came alive.

This Pentecost, I write with deep gratitude for you.

Thank you for being communities where the Spirit is alive and well. In sanctuaries, fellowship halls, around kitchen tables and hospital beds, in Bible studies, outreach ministries, youth gatherings, refugee sponsorships, care homes, and quiet acts of mercy that rarely make headlines, the gospel is still becoming flesh among us.

Thank you for your faithfulness in a season when ministry is not simple. Many of you are navigating change, uncertainty, grief, financial pressures, and the shifting realities of church life in Canada today. Yet even amid these challenges, you continue to pray, serve, sing, welcome, teach, and love. You continue to show up for one another and for your neighbours. That matters more than you know.

I give thanks for pastors, deacons, musicians, lay leaders, volunteers, council members, caretakers, and every person whose quiet faithfulness keeps the light burning. The church is not sustained by programs alone, but by people who trust that God is still creating something new among us.

As we move forward into God’s unfolding future, may we remain open to holy surprise. May we have courage to speak truth, compassion to serve boldly, and imagination to follow where the Spirit leads next. The wind of Pentecost still blows through the church, rattling old doors, planting new dreams, and calling us beyond fear into hope.

A blessed Pentecost to you all.

In Christ,

Bishop Trish Schmermund
